Worst customer service, after opening an account and depositing my stimulas money of $1200. 00, I traded a few stocks then went to send out $500.00 to help a friend with a funeral charges. E*TRADE froze my account. I have spoken to customer service for the last 4 days, send a picture of my id, to no avail. They are keeping my money and I don't know what to do. I am 72 years old and this is hard on me. Who can I report this elder abuse to?
Won't return my IRA monies. Will not answer phone call. Sent picture of drivers license 4 times, still claiming can't read it. At least Bernie Madoff returned phone calls. Shut this crap business down!

Etrade hires a whole bunch of lazy customer service rep to do the work. It is extremely horrific when wanting to talk to someone or finding out why the accounts have not yet been set up after a few months. Applications submitted many times per instruction, but then, all they bother to do is rejecting the applications without telling you why. I highly recommend to stay away from eTrade.
The Etrade app took $1000 dollars from my account then my password didn't work from the moment it took my money, I tried to reset my password but I also had to reset my username first, despite making them less than 3 minutes prior. I have yet to get my $1000 back, as their website and app won't allow me to transfer my money back to my bank, nor does it let me invest it. NOT ONLY THAT, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LEFT ME ON HOLD FOR 3 HOURS! This is not an exaggeration! I hung up after that, and I tried to call them again another weekday, and they yet again left me on hold for 45 minutes until I gave up. Etrade is a horrible buggy mess of an app, both on mobile and web browser, and their customer service is the worst I've experienced in my life. Do not trust it, it will steal your money and waste your time. Even their confirmation emails were sent to me 14 hours after I had finished making my account.
I have yet to ever receive accurate information about timing of requests, processing of transfers, loans, retirement accounts, or anything for that matter. It normally takes at least 5 attempts, with each successive attempt, the current person apologizing for the last person who gave the incorrect information. It's unacceptable, unprofessional, and bordering on gross negligence. And yes, I'm seeking a different provider, as I manage my own stocks but do need certain services that not every broker offers.
Red Alert!! keep off...I moved out with my money after a long period of not being able to withdraw my cash. This came through after swiftrecovery.link came to my rescue.
Decided I wanted to try etrade out to change things up. So I deposited 200 bucks and made some trades decided I didn't like their platform and waited for funds to settle. Tried to withdrawal the 210 like 3 days later, and they can't verify my phone number and all this other $#*!. Customer service is absolutely of no help. My money as of now is stuck and it's so so so annoying. This is by far the worst brokerage I've ever used in my life. Stay away!
I can't say anything good about my experience with eTrade. I opened an account on Sunday, and deposited money. It showed a net of that amount but I had no purchasing power. Then I learned that the money needed to clear first which can take 2-3 days but they had no issue taking it out of my bank account. Of course it took the full 3 days and not a minute shorter. Next I needed to go through their silly bank account verification process in which they deposit funds and you have to confirm the amount to verify. Another thing that can take 2-3 days...SMH! These actually went through in a day but I made a mistake and had to start the process all over again. Now I'm on day 3 and am sitting on a 30 minute hold again to talk to someone because the deposits have not been made. I can't withdraw my money from this awful service until this process completes.
When I realized what was going on, I opened an account at TDAmeritrade, verified my accounts, deposited funds and began trading in 10 mins. I had to call them to ask a question and was talking to someone in less than 2 mins.
DO NOT USE ETRADE EVER!!!
I would give them Negative Stars!
First for OTC stocks their "FREE" service charges $6.95 each trade to BUY or SELL!
Now I switched to another company that DOESN'T charge for OTC, the charged $75 to transfer my portfolio. I HAVE LESS THAN $2000 in value. Would've been cheaper to pay the seller fees and repurchase.
I'm 63 yrs old... I'm new to all this but decided to use half my stimulus to do a little investing. My money posted in a great amount of time... I sent my daughter $100 so she can start investing... well that was a big mistake... they restricted my account for verification and wanted my ID... I was okay with that... sent my passport, driver's license, social security card. Ok then they decided that I need to write a letter begging them to reactivate my account.(bull****) customer service is the world's dumbest and always have an attitude as if its their money... 45-60 minutes hold and their mad... I just want my money back and never do business with them again! But after all that still restricted...
Terrible, terrible, terrible communications protocols - it's as if the Internet and email were never invented (except for their advertising and self-promotions of deals). When tracked USPS mail containing legal documents is sent, they never acknowledge receipt by email or even by snail mail. Waiting on the phone for at least an hour to talk to someone is such fun! It takes days to get response to secure messages on their website. They've had over $100K of my cash for 8 months and I'm still jumping through hoops to try to get it transferred out, to my bank. I will never deal with them again in this life, if I'm lucky.
I’ve had E*TRADE E*TRADE a little over two years and they’re lacking in the banking department. You can’t send money without them approving their account first. So they have to send two small deposits before it gets approved. She’s trying to bring money and it’s a hassle. Today they had tech issues and I was not able to access my cash for 24 hours. This is happened multiple times I’ve been out on dinners and my cards declined. To get a hold of somebody it usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Their savings account interest is 0.50. I’m telling you right now I worry about my monies being tied to them. I’ve had cash disappear and after two hours of distribution he finally realized it was a tech issue. Tech issue after tech issue. If something happens and you need to get a hold of somebody just plan on at least an hour before talking with the representative. Client services seem to be pretty nice. But that’s what customer service is right I need my money protected I need access to at any time and they need to be able to send it to wherever I want to. I’m telling you right now it’s not easy and I’ve had to open to checking account because I worry that the majority of my money has to stay in one and when I want to spend I’ll transfer money to the other account. Anyhow the list goes on I’m looking for another company to protect and hold my money. Their phone applications always has problems
I opened an Etrade account in March 2020 and purchased five stocks. I also have a separate savings account with them as well. In total I have over $7,000 invested with Etrade. I was sent an Etrade checkbook and debit card which are completely unusable. Access to my account was frozen the day after I opened it. I contacted customer service two times and it's a call center in India. After I waited over one and a half hours the first time to speak to a rep, I was asked irrelevant security questions to "prove" who I am. I was switched around to two other reps who were of no help either. I was told that I had to send my drivers license, bank account records and social security number in a pdf file to unlock my account. Who in the hell sends that kind of personal information in a pdf file to some purported call center in India? Sound fishy? You bet it is. I contacted my local Etrade branch that's been closed since the pandemic (and still is closed even though most other banks and brokers are open for business), and I throughly explained my problem with my frozen account and the horrible service with their "customer service" center. He tells me he's sorry to hear that (yeah I bet he was) and that he can't help me unlock my account! Why not?! He says that for security purposes I can only deal directly with "customer service" to unlock my account. At that moment my pulse felt like it was 120 beats per minute. To say that I was pissed is a very mild understatement. I asked the guy why do have to call a service center in a foreign country who asked for very personal information about me so that I can have my account reopened. He said it's Etrade's policy to only work with customer service. I ended the call with a few explicit words and hung up on the asshat. He knows the method of operation that Etrade is running: a major scam. I'm sure Morgan Stanley is behind this entire fraudulent scheme since they bought out Etrade. Morgan Stanley has a pretty piss poor reputation as well. Since Etrade has STOLEN my money, ROBBED me, SCAMMED me... I filed a claim with FINRA. FINRA is an absolute joke. They are a useless mediation committee that most often sides with the onerous behavior of brokerage firms. Don't waste your time with FINRA. They're absolute crap. Second step was to contact my attorney. He was very sorry to hear what I was experiencing with Etrade, but he didn't have the expertise in that field of law to peruse litigation against them so he referred me to an attorney who handles claims against brokerage firm fraud. I was turned down by that attorney because he told me that (in fine print on Etrade's customer agreement) that Etrade will only permit mediation and attorneys can't intervene. I thought to myself, "oh $#*!. I'm screwed". Etrade (Morgan Stanley) actually ROBBED me of my securities. I might as well have been held at gunpoint in a dark alley while some f-ing thug stole all my cash. Why and how is Etrade getting away with this theft and NOBODY is doing Jack $#*! about it? WHY?! I'd also like to note that my local Etrade office first claimed that they'd reopen for normal operation on March 2,2021. Then they bumped it up to March 24, then April 5th. Such juvenile games these people play. I think the only way we'll ever see our money again is if there's a class action suit taken against Etrade. Currently there are a number of class action suits pending against Etrade. Something needs to be done with these filthy, rotten crooks. Is it extortion? Embezzlement? What? What the f are these people at Etrade doing and being able to sustain hoarding hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars from their customers. A pile of moldy $#*! smells like roses compared to the management of Etrade and their policies. If hell actually was real those bastards running Etrade and Morgan Stanley would all enjoy eons of a scorching "good time" there.
This platform is the WORST. Especially for active traders. RUNNN!!! Consistent login problems and processing is the slowest I've seen. Use TDA. Anything but this!

Is this a legit company? I use this company for OTC trades and never had anything like this happen to me. I am just shocked about what to do.
